North Hills is unbelievably active when it comes to construction. What started out as a two-story mall has had a fascinating history. Twelve years ago, John Kane, a Raleigh real estate developer, had the aging mall demolished. Since that time, more than $1 billion in improvements and new construction has been put into this Raleigh Midtown district.
There continues to be much more to look forward to as North Hills has begun plans to continue to be a well-rounded destination not only for grand hotels together with office and retail establishments but also for residential apartments. Investors from around the world have already begun to take part and invest in this high level of real estate activity.
Located at the corner of Six Forks and Dartmouth and having broken ground in September 2014, this 18-story tower with its all glass building exterior is expected to be completed by Spring of 2016. Included will be 10 stories of office space, 10,000 square feet of ground level retail, and multiple levels of parking.
This five-level modern apartment building at the corner of Dartmouth Road and St. Albans Drive will have 171 apartment units when completed in 2016. Amenities will include such items as storage units, gated parking, a saltwater pool with a sun deck and rooftop terrace, and much more.
North Hills presently has an inventory of 1,354 apartment units in four existing apartment communities.
This will be 15 stories of 285 mid-rise and high-rise apartment units and about 35,000 square feet of street-level retail space along the south side of Midtown Park and amphitheater and adjacent to the Hyatt House hotel. Added to outstanding views will be such amenities as an eighth floor outdoors pool.
The Cardinal at North HIlls
Also expected to be completed in 2016 is this full-service rental Continuing Care Retirement Community on six acres. Amenities will include a clubhouse, a fully-equipped spa and fitness center complex, an indoor pool, planned social events, and more.
Site maps show reserved land space for at least seven more multi-story building projects. These building projects have yet to be announced and are on both the west and the east sides of Six Forks Road.
In addition, Allscripts plans to build a 12-story tower for its 1,000 employees in Raleigh.
